Chief Instructor: George Strong 5th dan Sonriki Shotokan Karate Kai (incorporating the British Geological Survey Karate Club and the Keyworth Shotokan Karate Club) was established in Keyworth 1985 by G E Strong, 5th Dan Black Belt. He started training in Luton, Bedfordshire in 1974 purely as a means of keeping fit. In 1978 he was awarded the 1st dan black belt (shodan) by Hirokasu Kanazawa, the former Japanese champion and now one of the world's foremost and most respected Shotokan instructors (Shotokan is the name of the style of karate taught at the Keyworth club). In 1980 he started a club in Luton, and became the affiliated association's Regional Senior Instructor of a group of clubs in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. He instructed at Bedfordshire local education authority evening classes and secondary schools. Sensei Strong moved to Keyworth in 1985 and was invited by a group of BGS staff to start a club in Keyworth. |

karate kids. Beginners welcome at any session to start. Male
